Today Begets Tomorrow 4-7-2021
Inehinei Hānau I Kēia Lā

Mo'olele - the venerable
legends of Hawai'i
live and breathe -
day to day
as if eons haven't passed
because they know
yesterday begets tomorrow.

Footsteps
taken gently
so as to not
disturb that which might take
another eon to return.
Footprints
in lava teach
the past cannot be erased.

The gods yet smile
or raise their hands
to let the winds blow
lest we
forget to remember.

Listen to the old ones,
the elders, the kapuna
for they, in their wisdom,
teach true.

Mo'olele - the venerable
legends of Hawai'i
live and breathe -
day to day to day
as if eons haven't passed
because they know
yesterday begets tomorrow.

Hoʻomanaʻo ...
Remember.
