A kōel about being suprised by morning snow in April.

Morning reveals a cover of snow,
tentatively touching trees,
as late winter induces a wind to blow.

I shiver as I look out my window;
seducing, snowy, silken sweeps
filling me with an urge to go.

April, you have tricked me so;
giving ground and granting gales
to Winter, who should be your foe!

Still, I can't stay mad at you;
thinking thrilling thoughts,
of cool white, warms me through.

Kōel is the Poetry form explored in Round 83 of
Oriental Poetry Contest  (E)
Poetic forms from the East. New challenges twice a month.
