Darkness was now glowering; Shadows thrummed with spite galore; Cruel Dark King was towering; Wicked judgement he forbore. Highness was not satisfied; lowliness got no respite; Now all Fear was amplified; Sadism set King alight. Court with cruel glee atremble, Joined Him now to all partake; Wearing Jester's ensemble, Mockingly, to you unmake. Now the strike hit, Now the wail, Now the rage fit, Now all fade. He can still be merciful; His hand gives a sweet caress; The King's Verdict's beautiful: Rest, He grants you now Darkness. ** Image ID #2247530 Unavailable ** Notes: The form is an adaptatipon (I've added a stanza) of Ae freslighe, a Celtic style described in The Poet's Garret: www.thepoetsgarret.com The poem is a contest entry for "Invalid Item" Line count: 20 |
