|Nothing went right for the Toronto Blue Jays last night as the team was defeated 7-5 by the Kansas City Royals.
Andrew Benintendi drove in Whit Merrifield with a double in the bottom of the first inning.
K.C. went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning when Nicky Lopez drove in Hanser Alberto with a triple.
Lopez scored on an error later that same inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Hunter Dozier drove in Jorge Soler with a double.
Alberto drove in Dozier with a double.
Then, Alberto and Lopez scored on an error to put the Royals ahead 7-0.
The Jays finally scored at the top of the sixth inning when Joe Panik hit a two run double.
Rowdy Tellez drove in Panik with a single to make it a 7-3 game.
Then, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Palacios.
At the top of the seventh inning, Vladmir Guerrero Jr, hit a solo home run.
Dozier went two for four at the plate and had a RBI.
Royal's starting pitcher, Jakob Junis went five innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, a walk, and struck out six batters.
Panik had two RBIs.
Toronto's starting pitcher, Anthony Kay went 3.1 innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs, no walks, and struck out three batters.
Game Two is tonight in Kansas City, Mo.
