|The Toronto Maple Leafs snapped their five game losing streak, defeating the Winnipeg Jets last night 5-3.
"We needed to get a win here today," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the postgame press conference.
The Leafs got off to a good start by scoring two quick goals in the first period.
Auston Matthews scored the first goal 27 seconds into the game and Wayne Simmonds scored the second at 1:18.
Mark Scheitele made it a 2-1 game with a goal at 3:19.
Andrew Copp tied the game at 10:26.
Fortunately for the Leafs, Jason Spezza scored at 11:59 to put Toronto ahead 3-2.
Mitch Marner put the Leafs ahead 4-2 at 12:58 of the second period.
Kyle Connor closed the gap at 4-3 at 17:56.
Marner scored an empty netter at 19:54 of the third period.
Both Matthews and Marner had three points.
Leaf's goalie, Jack Campbell stopped 34 shots last night.
Winnipeg's Mason Appleton had two assists.
Toronto faces the Jets again tomorrow night.
