Flash Fiction

“What should we do now?” Frank asked.

“I don’t know. What do you want to do?” Tim asked back.

“I don’t know. What do you want to do?”

“I don’t know. What time is it?”

“I know that, like what time?”

“How would I know? Do I look like a clock?”

“You look like a cluck!”

“Very funny. What do you care what time it is?”

“I have to be home at three.”

“What for?”

“I don’t know, they just told me I had to be home before three.”

“Huh, well I think it was noon when we walked by the diner cause lots of people were eating, but that wasn’t very long ago, I don’t think.”

“Yeah, not so long. So, what do you wanna do now?”

“I don’t know...” The boys walked off through the woods.

Back at Tim’s house his mother was screaming at everyone: “Call his other friends! Dad is out looking for them in the car. Frank’s mother said she thought they were headed toward the school when they left her house. Go, go! If we don’t leave for the airport in the next half hour, we’re going to miss our plane!! Why did we think surprising Tim would be so much fun?!”
