Have definition is - to hold or maintain as a possession, privilege, or entitlement.
|I'm just messing around here with six different interesting examples of what it is to have something;
Baker's have dozens - Request a dozen eggs from a farmer, a dozen steaks from a butcher, or a dozen pencils from a traveling office supplies salesman, and you will almost certainly receive 12 of your chosen item (counting errors do happen). But a baker's dozen is commonly understood to mean 13.
Mechanic's have leans - A mechanic's lien is a type of possessory lien. This means that the mechanic or other service provider can establish the lien to retain possession of a vehicle if services go unpaid. Depending on the laws in your state, the mechanic may even be able to sell your car to recoup some or all of the money you owe.
Carpenters have to measure twice - A simple motto which when followed works perfectly every time. It works because the meaning is clear and to the point: You measure two times before you cut something once. By doing so you improve results and minimize waste. By minimizing waste, you save time, money and make the boss happy.
House's have mortgages - Paying cash for a home means you won't have to pay interest on a loan and any closing costs. A mortgage can provide tax benefits for some and means a buyer will likely have more cash in the bank to tap when needed.
Loan's have interest - When you borrow money, the lender will ask you to repay those funds over time. But banks expect to be paid something for their services and the risk they take when lending you money. That means you won't just pay back the money you borrowed. You'll pay back the loan plus an additional sum, known as interest.
People have artistic ability - I threw this one in because the picture I included with this tid-bit of information was drawn by a friend and co-worker of mine. His name was Arthur and this was his signature drawing that he doodled on anything that was hold onto ink. Arthur definitely had artistic ability. He's gone now, but I wanted to give the world a chance to see his art work so that it can live on forever.
The have nots - The have nots are on the Big Brother show. A Have-Not is a House Guest that has to eat slop in addition to foods voted on by America, sleep in the Have-Not Bedroom, and take cold showers. The alternative is a Have. The status of Have or Have-Not was determined in the weekly Have/Have-Not Competition. No one on Big Brother wants to be a have not which last a whole week. This year Big Brother is in it's 23 season with a $750,000 going to the winner.
