Autumn Is

Autumn is a poem,
the yellow and gold leaves
of cottonwood and oak trees
are the lines
and stanzas that fall
into the minds of readers.

Autumn is a metaphor
that blanket cold souls
with the warm embrace
of true friends.

Autumn is a festival,
a feast serving
the delicious red apples
of gratitude.
