A last goodbye
The twilight hour,
Dusk colored flowers
In soft amber gold
Summer’s last gift,
Shadows foretold,

Before darkest night
Takes permanent hold,
Frost breath white cold.

Memories will wander
In quest of dappled sunshine,
Flowers entwined in full color,
On which my eyes may rest
And my life be blessed.

Too soon the season
Is here, then is gone,
Lost in slow motion flight
And last trill of bird song.
