A recap of last night's Tampa Bay/Toronto Game One of three.
Alek Monoah's slider was working real good last night as his Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 8-1.

"His, (Monoah's) slider was nasty," said Jay's manager, Charlie Montoyo at the postgame press conference.

"It's a lot easier to pitch when you have an 8-0 lead," said Monoah.

Monoah pitched eight scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit two RBI singles for Toronto.

Jay's Breyvic Valera hit a two run single and a RBI single.

Valera had three RBIs last night.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his 45th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Jay's Bo Bichette homered too in last night's game.

Jay's Randal Grichuk hit a RBI double.

Austin Meadows broke the shut out at the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run.

Toronto's Teoscar Hernandez had five hits last night.

Gurriel Jr. and Grichuk went three for four at the plate.

Ray's starting pitcher, Collin McHugh lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing three earned runs.
