A recap of last night's Toronto/Minnesota Game One of four.
|It seems as if the Toronto Blue Jay's chances of making the postseason are slowly slipping away after losing to the Minnesota Twins last night 7-2.
Jay's starting pitcher, Steven Matz did not have a good night on the mound last night.
Matz lasted just three innings and allowed seven hits. He did, however, struck out six batters.
Things started out positive for the Jays when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a RBI double at the top of the second inning.
The Twins went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Both Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver hit RBI singles.
Teoscar Hernandez tied the game with a solo home run at the top of the fourth inning.
It was all Minnesota from there on.
Up 3-2, Nick Gordon hit a three run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Then, Gordon hit a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Gordon had three hits and four RBIs.
Garver went three for four at the plate.
Twin's starting pitcher, Michael Pineda pitched five innings and allowed eight hits.
It was Pineda's third straight win.
Toronto left 11 runners on base last night.
The Jays are now a full game back of the New York Yankees for the final wild card spot.
The Jay's send Jose Berrios to the mound tonight.
