A tragedy of our time and all times.
(21 lines)

Vivisectus

Kicking, screaming, joyous bundle,
owning sleepless nights,
rocking out to lullabies
in a heartbeat cradle.
Hugs & kisses cure-all,
securely hand in hand,
stronger together.

Coughing, gasping, separation,
fever wracking guilt
of unmasked pestilence.
Double-gloved strangers caress
a ventilated cheek
in anguished isolation,
we die alone.

Double dipping harvest moon,
prismed in crystal tears,
flooding indifferent stone
in a mould-scented fog.
Kneeling inverted sorrow,
no sunrise ever breaks
the horizon of grief.
