| The Good Idea One day a good idea came I'd get a brand new knee No more limping, no more cane A brand new dancing me! I saw the doc, he said to me You've got some work to do First lose weight and exercise Or no new knee for you! I did it all, I lost the weight I stretched and bent my knee I gave up things I'd like to have To get that brand new me Finally the big day came Time to take the leap A needle here, and IV there And soon I was asleep Later I learned something new I hadn't known til then When one to ten can be your pain There really is a ten Small matter though, I made it home I braved the sleepless nights I went for special exercise Until my knee moved right My leg is healed, I'm back to work But still I use my cane Even though I exercise I have the same old pain When that "good" idea came I would have deemed it strange That after all the fuss and stress Nothing much would change I could get mad, or get depressed Or be a real hot head No I'll take a different path And write this poem instead |
