a short piece about how we are perceived |
| i hate that we are judged by our appearance before we are allowed to speak. don't hate me because I'm too pretty or not pretty enough don't hate me because I don't have a tinkling laugh or shiny hair don't hate me because I have that nose you've always wanted hate me because I talk too much some days and others I won't say a word. hate me because I'm too serious that sometimes I want to say nothing at all hate me because I make you scream when you want to cry hate me for the things that will still remain after my features wither and rot away love me for how I can make you laugh when no one else can love me for my sharp tongue or the way I pucker my lips when I concentrate don't love me because of the shape of my eyes or the roundness of my nose love me for me not the things I happen to be born with love me for the things I learned and the things I didn't or don't love me at all. |
