OVERACHIEVER

Overachiever?
Never say I!
Plenty to do
Why reach for the sky

No need to struggle
With three jobs, or two
Work for a Volvo?
A used Ford will do

Vivacious and lively
Might get me ahead
But I'm just too tired
To get out of bed

Revive my ambition?
Put shoulder to wheel?
Turn a new leaf?
Lay down a new keel?

Vivid the image
Of my new success!
A savvy new man
Abandon this mess

But it's all a pipe dream
For I'll never roam
From my recliner
Where I wrote this poem
