The debris after the storm

After The Storm

It is quiet now,
blue skies are emerging.
Powerful winds are through
whipping the trees,
and stripping their branches,
covering the land with fallen leaves.
A shattered Toyota straddles
the broken fence
that surrounds my home no longer.
A major power outage embraces my world,
stopping computers, TVs, and water pumps.
My fear has subsided but
this rude awakening of power
tells me next time I will get out
when I am told.
