To my Friends

I have been fortunate
To have had lifelong friends
Friends I have known

Since I was a child
Growing up in Berkeley
in the ’60s and 70s

My best friend
Is Robert
An actor
Whom I have known
Since first grade

He introduced me
To alcohol
And to marijuana

Over the years he visited me
In Washington, DC
Mumbai, India
And South Korea
During my Peace Corps time
