This is the companion poem to The Sacrificial Grave |
| (LIne count: 40) I'm hopping through My summer playlist My enemies Both base and faithless Live my life for the red, white and blue I've opened the door To what is true Got some sunscreen and bug spray The neighborhood pool party Comes this Sunday My old lawnmower Is on the fritz While my confidence Is blasted to bits So much for my Survival kit I still don't know What to do with it The flags at the cemetery Are signing my name While the Sultan of Swing Walks by with a cane. I never once saw Who I thought was to blame The Soldier of Fortune With a lion's mane My father was right Thus so it was said I saw him last night Memories running in my head I left with a cleft Now I'm running on fumes I've dealt with the rest While searching the sand dunes I may never see rich I may never find peace But I lived a good life With each, for each |
