Circa 1994. Written after watching the musical fireworks display at Butchart Gardens |
| I looked upon it with awe and wonder I looked upon it with the fascination of a child I blinked maybe twice The sky was illuminated with every colour and it seemed to linger for hours The water glistened below and looked just like the sky The fire lit up and the trees cast shadows that danced in time to the flames The curling smoke in the sky seemed to tell me a story A story of long ago when everything looked this way The smoke twisted around the trees as if it was caressing them The pictures in the smoke summoned me and I lost myself in all the beauty No other people were there yet, I was far from alone The spirits of nature danced with me The smoke swirled around and warmed my body I felt so much love I daren't close my eyes in case it should disappear But it never did and never will No one could see it but it didn't end It made an impression that will last in the heart forever A wonderful memory, of love. |
