Last Minute Number Crunching

A person rushes to get their income taxes in on time

April 15th is National Tax Day
Will I be done in time? It's hard to say

On this day, sank the Titanic
It figures this day was picked to panic

My lost receipts are nowhere to be
I know in my heart, my computer hates me

I hope I find them before the deadline
My coffee pot beeps just in time

With a US tax code nearly 4 million words long
There are so many details that I could get wrong

Tax returns are due to the government
Is rushing like this actually what they meant

I found my receipts! Now I can sing
I really hate tax time this spring

I made it in time, filing electronically
I hoped to finish early, ironically
