A contest's entry for "The Writer's Cramp". |
Inside a package at my doorstep, Soft blankets reveal a tiny face, Lips gently parted, eyes closed in peace, A baby, a mystery, with a note from my ex: "This baby is a sign of my love for you. When you receive this baby, I will no longer be." My hands tremble, my eyes fill with tears. Neighbors gather, their faces curious, Offering help, advice, and comfort. Together, we create a circle of care, A new family forms, unplanned, Bound by the love, we share for my little son. Through sleepless nights and endless days, I learn to nurture each smile, I learn to soothe each cry. Unexpected, unplanned, a new chapter unfolds, A tiny life, a gift of love, brings meaning. A precious bond is now forever ours. Number of Lines: 18 |
