The Cat Launching

A Count Up Poem describing the leap of a feline.

         Tail

         whiskers

         twitch, flick, twitch.

         Pointed ears sharp.

         Eyes slanted, pierce, probe.

         Coiled muscle, tension pitch.

         Rapture focus, trigger switch.

         Front paws brace and hindquarters hitch.

         A shimmy-shake tremor expels hiss.

         Fur missile slingshots into the abyss.

         

         Squawk.

         Faint mew.

         Thump, bump, thump.

         A cat kersplats.

         Unfortunate fall.

         Misjudgement, hubris, sprawl.

         Confused feline, caterwaul.

         Eyes glazed, flat ears, momentum stall.

         Missed jump? As if. Unbelievable.

         A lean, lithe cat stumped? Inconceivable.
