this is a Haibun poem; "fairy clocks" is an old name for dandelions |
| The Haibun is an ancient Japanese form which blends prose poetry with Haiku. The prose and haiku need to complement or balance each other so there is no need for interpretation. Fairy Clocks My people are like dandelions; weeds that others want to pluck from the earth. Can you not see our beauty, our worth? Though trampled and cut down, we rise time and time again, to honour the heavenly bodies with our life. We are strong. We are resilient. We are reverent. Golden head of light, fluffy, silver afro, then stars against the sky. JMariah |
