A poem in Haibun form (described following the poem) about strange autumn weather |
| November arrived at seventy Fahrenheit in Massachusetts. “This is not normal,” I said to my wife. I guess this is true global warming. The squirrels will stop gathering nuts for their homes, and mosquitoes will once more be swarming. I put the storm windows up two weeks ago, and gassed up the snow blower, too. Yet we might cook the Thanksgiving turkey this year outside, for a fall barbeque. On the other hand, I won't be surprised if the temperature drops overnight. So let's not be hasty, lest we find ourselves with chattering teeth and frostbite. Haibun - a combination of short prose or prose poem (20-150 words) and a haiku (3 lines of 5, 7, & 5 syllables respectively. (The haiku can be before or after the poem.) |
