The Decision We Made

For a writing group I’m in. I combined 2 different prompts into one piece of writing…

Halfway between
heaven and hell
adoration and abhorrence
there were signs and omens:
black cats and four-leafed clovers
owls and rainbows
fantastic, to be sure
but not without reason or purpose
And it was for us to decide
which way to go—
if we would live
in the paradise of our choosing
or in a hell of our own making
