AI, the best or worst thing that has happened to humanity? Time to ask questions about AI! |
My Jury is In on AI I have been using different AI platforms and have come to a startling conclusion—they make you lazier and dumber! No thinking is required. Simply command, "Write me a four-page story about the weather today," and boom, there it is. Is this really where we want to be? I love writing, creating, telling my stories, and sharing my emotions. With AI, you will lose something very special when and if you choose to use it for writing and sharing. Yes, you will get more done faster and easier, but what is happening to you and your brain when doing critical thinking? Maybe we should rethink the uses and purposes of AI. In the meantime, our children are being taught how to use AI. They are no longer required to learn cursive writing. Will critical thinking go next? Using our brains to think, rethink, and puzzle things out to a logical solution is essential. That keeps them functioning and actively involved in our decision-making. If we can get AI to do it, what happens when we can no longer formulate the information necessary to tell AI what we want it to do? My mother used to be leery of the one-eyed giant sitting in our living room! I am not only leery, but scared of what is coming for my future children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Technology, learning, and advancement are good, but limitations, restraints, and guidelines must be established to protect humanity, our future, and future generations. Left unchecked, the world as we know it may cease to exist. |
