Magic “Watch this,” Randy said excitedly, as he held out his hand. James had watched ‘this’ so many times already, he felt weary. Randy wanted to be a magician. Every day he tried new tricks. Then, when he thought he had it, he’d run out to try it out, almost always on his brother James. So far, the only ones that worked could probably be done by a three-year-old. James was weary, but tried to make the best of his brother’s enthusiasm. “OK…” he said, keeping an excited face. Randy picked up a dollar bill. “Keep your eyes on the prize!” he said, crunching the dollar into a ball and closing his hand around it. He quietly said a list of non-sense words and tapped his hand with his other hand, then opened it. Inside was the crunched dollar. But when Randy uncrunched it, it was now a ten-dollar bill! “That was amazing!” James said, in shock. “This isn’t possible. How did you do it??” Randy looked at his brother, “I don’t know…” “What do you mean?” “I did the trick like it said, but, I don’t know how it makes it a ten-dollar bill… it just does! Watch!” He handed James the ten, and pulled another one dollar bill out of his pocket. Doing the same thing, he opened his hand to another ten-dollar bill!” The boys stared at each other… then they got excited! Let’s get more ones and see what happens!!! They spent the morning turning ones to tens. When they ran out completely, they decided to try shopping. Every ten got spent, and they came home with piles of new fun stuff! That’s when Randy ran in and said, “Watch this!” as he woke James up from his lovely dream… This trick wasn’t as good… |
