Either way

40 word poem. Life or Death... either way is fine.

Either way

When Death comes calling I will smile
hand outstretched to walk awhile
and then — oblivion;

but,

if perchance I wake once more
may Life come joyful to my door
I'll glad—ly make amends.

I do not think of death as a negative. Yes, I think it's optimistic to both be willing and ready to die or live. This is partially based on religious beliefs. The poem is 7 lines, 33 words, aab-ccb rhyme.
