Love poem to love |
You will kiss my lips - and it won’t be his I will kiss yours - and it won’t be hers But our eyes will meet, in them I’ll see it Your soul so beautiful - oh, how it burns In each of us is a saint, a soul How rare is it to see a glimpse of you I promise to love beauty forever, all of art’s gold Truth is beauty, and your soul true like few Forgive me, I’m new to what is life Our pasts don’t make us, nor should it haunt It is what is learned and done after, as we are our ideals over time Our mold, our guide, our wants Past has passed, future ours yet far We live now, alive we are You are here, I am near The gift of now, we give love here Oh dear, my dear, given to us is but cheer Yet tears are shed, yet aid Yet scars run red, yet fade Yet I yearn, yet I learn to see new jade Yet I, lost, here in fear, yet I pray Let these tests test us unto death Let new life cometh, you, my new breath How can I not see you as my new light? How can I not, despite mine, love beauty bright? How can I not, despite mine, love life? How could I not see in you my new life, my new light For truth to be my wife Truly, I ask, how can I not seek to see you? And only you? |
