Maybe I've been reading too much.... I seemed to find myself in a Narnia forest.

It was dark back here in the closet. I was starting to think I had lost my mind. This was supposed to be some kind of doorway into another realm.

I checked my phone again. Sam had said he'd meet me here. In the quiet, I felt nothing but the soft fur of the coats that hung like sentinels in this space. I shifted back trying to give myself more room. I found myself stepping back onto something not so steady as the wood panels. My foot slipped and I grabbed for the coats trying to keep myself upright. My phone went flying.

I slid back, the coat jerking off the hanger and coming with me. Before I knew it I was sitting in a pile of something cold and wet with the coat covering me like a second skin.

I scrambled up before the cold buried itself into me. The chill had me trembling. I pulled the coat up off the ground and jerked my arms into it. My feet sunk down into the snow soaking my feet.

What the hell was this place?

A dense forest surrounded me. The only illumination coming from a single old fashioned lantern hanging from a light post. I could see a path leading through the trees.

There was no sign of the closet. My heart hammered in my chest.

Not wanting to freeze I moved forward tentatively.

"Damn it, Sam. Where are you? When I get my hands on you," I let my voice trail away as I heard something screech off to my left. I wasn't willing to see if it was an owl or not. I found myself bounding forward in hopes of someplace warm and less hostile than an unknown forest.
