A rewording of the famous quote by Pastor Martin Niemöller reflecting present day 2nd POV

First they came for gay love
And you did not speak out
Because you are not gay
Then they came for transgender existence
And you did not speak out
Because you are not transgender/nonbinary
Then they came for women's rights
And you did not speak out
Because you did not see the problem
Then they came for immigrants (legal or not)
And you did not speak out
Because you do not identify as an immigrant
When they come for the next group
There might not be anyone left to speak out for you

This is but a single list in one nation that was once dedicated to freedom
We also shouldn't forget the struggles around the world
Including nations like Palestine

No one will be safe if this continues as we slip into a dystopian nightmare
But hope isn't lost as the protests continue to showcase against all odds
Together we can stand strong and speak out against these atrocities
Speak up
Protest
I will not be silent
Nor should you
