Distant Star

Something so beautiful but untouchable

A lone star shimmers in the pitch black sky.
A sight so beautiful it makes me wonder, why?
Why shine so bright if I can’t be near you?
Why stay so far away?
Where my love can’t reach you?
But then I remember, you did not choose to be that way.
It was my foolish heart that ignored your dismay.
You must feel just like I do but simply choose not to say.
So I stay where I am, pondering why,
Why couldn't I be another star in the sky?
