the trio dynamic of a mother, father and their child is something beautiful to watch

(cover is from spy x family anime)

If asked about their parents, many will feel their stomachs twist
Before taking a breath while putting on a smile awkward enough for you to get the gist
And their answer? something that is rather common these days, or so they believe
"They're tough man, I don't recall the last time they were actually happy with me", and then most of the time they take their leave

Such a sad a reply to what should have been a warm question
So how about we wipe away the resulting gloom with some warm sensation?

Remember the first time you went out with them? father to the right, mother to the left, or was it the opposite?
Which place did you go to? a park? a restaurant? maybe even a museum? the latter would make for such a fancy first visit

Do you remember the first game you played together? was it messing around with a ball alongside your father?
Or some funny kitchen time trying to steal a recipe from your mother?
None of both maybe? if so, then you got me curious
For when it comes to having fun as a child, The possibilities can be endless

What about your first day at school? breakfast tasted better than before back then I guess?
Or was some of it burnt after poor mom realised that little time was left to eat before the arrival of the bus?
And hey between us: did you behave on the first day?
Personally, I started good in the first minutes but then enjoyed some mischief. and as a secret that shall stay
Tell me more though, once you got back home what happened?
"I had a fun day", perhaps that was what you said to them, one of the rare times when school really mattered
"This and that happened, just come sit already so I can tell you about it! ", also, a line you probably uttered

How about homework though? how did that go?
Were you the studious type from the get-go?
Or did you pretend to do it while secretly watching an episode of your favourite show?
Personally, I left my homework at home in first time. believing it was meant to stay at home
But tell that to your teacher, and you'll probably sound like trying to be funny
Back then i was the only one to be punished, but hey that was just the first instance out of many

As we grow, I know things around us start to change as well
We lose the innocence that made us special when young, while running out of cute and wholesome things to tell
Expectations rise to the roof too
The tension becomes real, and our very lives feel like they're on the line too
And yes, the very same parents who were doting on us start changing their tone
Putting weight on your shoulders, sometimes even feeling like it's too much for one person to carry alone
Frustration builds up as result
And the good times feel like they're about to halt

But it is in those tough times and moments of anger where the good memories need to shine
To remind us that even when those parents sound unreasonable: at the heart of every blame and lecture there are sincere wishes for us to be fine
Times may change, and other people around us as well
But when it comes to sweet mother and caring father, their loves for us remains, it never fell
Such is the beauty of family: the only mortal unconditional love that one can have
Always sharing with you the good and bad in full, not half

And maybe you did not have that, maybe you just did not get a taste of what I said
But once you find your one, and if able, why not start a family with them and try for yourself?
Be the father who teaches his child the meaning of strength despite circumstances
Or be the mother who teaches her child the meaning of firm elegance even when faced with grievances
Play your role now that you can, and play it carefully
So that hopefully you get to finally see the beauty of being a family
