The Lost Umbrella - it is what it is

I sit here all alone
The rain pours down on me
and I wonder where
my dear human can be.

You see, she put me down
To chase a dog chasing a cat
and once out of her hands
I was forgotten - that's that.

Then the downpour started
She'll be getting really wet
I hope she recalls where I am
And comes to fetch me yet.

Has she caught the naughty canine?
Has she told him what's what?
Has she cuddled the small feline
She does love mews a lot!

Is she shivering with cold
Hiding the kitty in her collar
Oh, I wish I had a voice
I wish I could just holler!

I hear the pattering of feet!
Here she is, a running!
What's this? The doggie's with her
And he's just funning!

The droplets glisten
On her dress, on his coat
And she's giggling - listen
While his bark is a gloat.

As she gets nearer
I have a better view
The cat is on her shoulder
And mewing away, too!

"Oh, I'm sorry, umbrella,"
she says, picking me up
"But now I've got you back
and I have a kitty and a pup."

So all of us went home
And now we live together
Cat, Dog, Human, Umbrella
Friends in all types of weather!
