Humans aren’t the victims this time. They are the ones who have invaded Valcon. |
Victory for Valcon A Short Story Written By SpaceFaction A spaceship comes between two moons while heading for the planet Valcon. After this spaceship gets to this planet, it enters orbit above the largest Land Mass. The first thing this spaceship does is to destroy all the Orbitals near it. Then they start destroying the rest of the Orbitals all around Valcon. Next, this spaceship sends small SpaceWeapons around this planet. When these SpaceWeapons are in position around Valcon, they start using large, red glowing balls to start destroying this planet. This destruction only last for about ten minutes. From the Control Room of this spaceship, this planet hasn’t been destroyed too badly. “Send our SpaceWeapons closer to the surface of this planet,” says Commander Konnim, who is sitting in the center seat in this Control Room. “Let the Valcons know what has happened to them.” Everyone in this Control Room can see what these SpaceWeapons are doing on the large Monitor in front of them. They can also see the reactions of some of the Valcons that are displayed below these SpaceWeapons. Some are displaying shock, but most are wondering what is happening to them. “Contact the Valcons,” says Konnim. “I want them to know what is happening to them.” # As one group of Valcons is leaving a Tunnel Opening, another group is entering this Tunnel Opening. Each Valcon has a human escort beside them. Every escort has a hand weapon pointing at their Valcon. These escorts and Valcons are heading for a large Open Area where other Valcons are already collecting resources. While the newest group of Valcons joins the others in collecting these resources, their escorts float up to a narrow ledge overlooking this Open Area. These escorts are still pointing their weapons at the Valcon they came into there with, watching them as they collect these resources. These Valcons are using Laser Picks to chip small gems out of rocks. After they chip them out, they place them in a floating series of containers with others of the same color. When these containers are full, they float up above the other containers. The other containers move together to connect to each other. There’s no talking among these Valcons. If a Valcon tries to talk to someone, their escorts use their hand weapons against them. The first red glowing ball is a warning, but the next one won’t be a warning. It will be a lethal one. # “We have found a very powerful resource,” says Resource Controller Panom. “We can’t get it, though. After all, we can’t go into these tunnels and Open Areas because it’s deadly to us.” “It’s true, we can’t go into them,” says Konnim. “The Valcons can go in there, though. They won’t last much longer than us, but they will last longer. Besides, if they die, there are plenty of other Valcons who can go in there.” Konnim gets up and walks over to where Panom is. “What about our Protective Skin? Can’t they protect us while we are down there?” “We can’t survive down there even with our Protective Skin,” answers Panom. “The Death Mist eats through them.” “I still don’t see what our problem is,” says Konnim. “So, we can’t go into them, but as long as the Valcons can, we won’t have any problems.” Panom swivels toward Konnim in his Seat. “The problem is we can’t keep our eyes on the Valcons if we can’t go into there with them.” “We may have had some problems with most of our other takeovers,” says Konnim. “I don’t think we will have any with the Valcons.” # Several Valcons start taking the collected resources out of a small spaceship that has just landed in the cargo bay of that spaceship. They are placing these collected resources in different locations in this cargo bay. Near each one of these Valcons, there is an escort with their hand weapons pointed at them. These Valcons are almost finished with this small spaceship when two more show up. After they finish with the first one, they start with the other two, splitting up so that they can get them at about the same time. The two new small spaceships aren’t as full as the first one. It doesn’t take them too long to finish these two small spaceships. By the time they get these small spaceships done, it’s time for them to eat and get some rest. Several other Valcons take their place, just as four more small spaceships show up there. After these, Valcon finishes working on the spaceship, and they are taken back to Valcon in another small spaceship. Even after they are taken back to Valcon each day, their escorts are still with them. They don’t live with them, but they are always watching them. # “I think we have a big problem,” says Panom after he swivels toward Konnim. “It’s about the Image Viewers we placed in the tunnels and Open Areas we can’t go into.” “What’s wrong with them?” Konnim asks as he walks over to where Panom is. Panom swivels back toward his Image Monitor. He taps a few buttons on the Control Panel under his Image Monitor. Konnim looks over the shoulder of Panom to see what he is looking at. “I thought we had our problems solved with watching these Valcons.” “We did solve our problems, but that’s not what I’m talking about.” Panom points at his Image Monitor. “The resources have been down in this part of Valcon. Now, I know why. These Valcons keep going into this part of the tunnels and Open Areas we can’t view.” Just then, a SpaceMissle comes out of the top of these tunnels and Open Areas. When this SpaceMissle gets to the clouds that surround Valcon, it separates in half, and the Death Mist is released from the bottom of it. The rest of this SpaceMissle heads for this spaceship, a SpaceMissle that is about to destroy this spaceship. Almost Twenty-four Years Later The Leader of Valcon, Walvona, hovers above a group of about ten million Valcons. She slowly turns in a circular direction so that everyone can hear her. “It has been almost twenty-four years since we got Valcon back from our human invaders. Our independence has been a hard one, but it’s almost over for us.” “After they invaded us, they almost destroyed all of our planet,” continues Walvona. “Then they forced us to collect our resources for them.” “We started rebuilding Valcon while our invaders were here, but it wasn’t easy to do without our invaders finding out what we were doing,” says Walvona. “If we hadn’t created our SpaceMissile to kill all the invaders on Valcon and destroyed our Invaders, we wouldn’t be here today.” Walvona stops speaking and starts slowly looking at the other Valcons below her. “We still have a lot to do before we are back to being who we were before these human invaders invaded us.” “That isn’t why we are here today, though. We are here, and all over Valcon, to celebrate another year of our independence from our invaders.” # Looking at the world below her, Walvona smiles. Valcon doesn’t look like it did before the invaders invaded it, but it looks a lot better than it looked right after they started their invasion. It’s obvious that they still have quite a bit left to do before they are back to being what they used to be, but it won’t be long before they are. Walvona continues to smile as she looks at all the construction happening below her. Most of the buildings and residences have been completed, but there are a lot that haven’t. Some of these buildings and residences are almost completed, but some are only partially completed, have barely been started, or are somewhere in between. After looking at these buildings and residences for a little longer, Walvona returns to her office within the large residence hovering above the region below her. Walvona places her hand on top of the Image/Data Monitor on her desk. This Image/Data Monitor turns itself on. On this Monitor, Walvona is looking at some other Valcons. “One problem has been solved,” says Walvona out loud. “Now all we need to do is solve our population problem, or our lack of a population problem.” # Walvona smiles after she taps a button on the Control Panel under her Image/Data Monitor. She’s smiling because she is looking at the birth of a Young One. “How many Young Ones does this Young One make?” The Image/Data Monitor changes from an Image Monitor to a Data Monitor. On this Monitor, only a number appears on this Data Monitor: 753,842, and it’s increasing by the minute. “This number is worldwide. What is the number for this region?” The 753,842 changes to 6,942. This new number is also rising by the minute. “That’s a good start, but it should be better.” Walvona likes to talk to herself. She does this all the time. She’s also a thinker. “Twenty-four years ago, the Death Mist killed all the humans on Valcon. It also affected the Valcons. The females could no longer have Young Ones, and the males couldn’t participate in the process of having these Young Ones.” “At least that’s the way it was until a couple of years ago when both sexes could start having Young Ones again.” Walvona also likes to walk. She prefers standing and walking to sitting. # Slowly, Walvona looks at the humans in the tunnel she is in, with four Protectors on each side of her. She has to bob her head from one side to look over the shoulder of the Protector in front of her to see these humans. The Death Mist has killed the invaders of Valcon, but they haven’t left Valcon, and they never will, thinks Walvona. I won’t let them ever leave here, thinks Walvona while they continue to walk through these tunnels and Open Areas. It reminds us of what these humans have done to us, or tried to do to us. Walvona and her Protectors stop when they get to the end of the tunnels and Open Areas where these humans are. When they continue to walk through these tunnels, there are no more humans for her to look at. They are in the tunnels that these humans can’t enter. When Walvona and her Protectors get to the end of these tunnels, they stop again. Now, Walvona is looking at an Open Area full of SpaceMissiles. Walvona smiles as she looks at one SpaceMissile after another. She stops when she gets to several SpaceMissiles that are being created. # We will be ready if these humans ever come back here. I don’t think they will return, though. Walvona can’t stop thinking about what these humans have done to them. She is lying down in her Long Seat in her office, staring up at the floors above her. Just then, the alarms in her office start blaring. Red and blue lights start flashing in there. Walvona is shocked by this; she falls off her Long Seat. She gets up and goes over to her desk. After she gets to her desk, she turns on her Image/Data Monitor. Walvona taps a few buttons on her Control Panel to turn off these alarms. After she taps a few more buttons, an image of a pulsating Orbital appears on her Image Monitor. “I have always been afraid something like this might someday happen. That’s why I placed some of our Orbitals in orbit around us.” Tapping a few more buttons, Walvona can now see why this Orbital set off the alarm; about a hundred spaceships are headed toward them. The humans are returning. “We don’t have enough SpaceMissiles to destroy these spaceships, especially since we don’t have any Valcons on them.” “I don’t think these spaceships are coming here to invade us again. With this many spaceships, these humans are coming to destroy us.” Word Count = 1,985 |
