Theresa learn that Luke is not what he seems to her and Mogi must use what Luke taught him |
Chapter 3: friends on the other side What do you mean friends in the demon realm?!" asked Theresa "this young man has many demon acquaintances," said the person, "ever since he was young, and I sense that he owes all of them a great deal." "Who even are you?" asked Theresa "my name is Taka. I have been ordered by Tortuga to hunt down Móguǐ zhīzǐ, before he gives in to his demonic powers." "But why would Tortuga ask you to do that?" asked Theresa, "he deployed me for that same reason." "I'm not sure," said Taka, "all I know is that now, my mission is to find out where the young Móguǐ zhīzǐ, is." "Ok." Said Theresa, "then I'll help. But just until we find Mogi, then you have to leave." "Fair," said Taka, "let's begin." She fired an arrow into the air, and a few moments later, they heard a thunk, followed by a demonic scream. "Found our first suspect." Said Taka, and rushed towards the forest. Theresa followed and they found a short black Demon with an arrow in its shoulder. "Please spare me mysterious archer!" said the demon, "I have not done anything bad in this year!" "I don't believe you," said Taka, "tell me where Móguǐ zhīzǐ is." At the mention of that name the demon cowered in fear. "Lord Satan's vessel has not come through this way!" said the Demon. "Liar!" said Taka, "now tell me!" her voice boomed across the forest, the demon cowered. "Fine," it said, "he went in that direction, he looked as if he was in incredible pain, and had just been fighting, now please spare me!" "Nah," said Taka, and stabbed the Demon with an arrow. "That was cold," said Theresa "Demons don't deserve mercy," said Taka, "neither does their master." That made Theresa worried, would this person really let Mogi live or not? They continued in the forest towards the direction that the demon had pointed. When they arrived, they found Mogi collapsed on the ground. "Mogi!" said Theresa, she tried to rush over to him, but Taka stopped her. "What are you doing?!" asked Theresa, "he's hurt I need to help him!" "Just wait a minute!" said Taka, "something isn't right." Then a hundred demons swarmed and possessed Mogi, he looked like he was in incredible pain, as a hundred demons forced the others away to control him. "Oh no!" said Theresa, "what do we do?!" "I'm not sure," said Taka, "I've never seen someone withstand so many demons! Usually, they just die." Theresa couldn't accept that, she did three demon killing rituals at the same time it was amazing, she splashed holy water, then tazed Mogi, and did the incantation for warding off evil. "Impressive," said one of the demons possessing Mogi, but you only got rid of ninety-nine of us, but there is still me, Luke." "The worst one." Said Taka, "what do you want Akuma?!" "Why, just a simple thing." Said Luke, "to protect my young friend." "Who?" asked Theresa "Mogi of course," said Luke, "after all, we made a pact, and neither of us can abandon the other." "Why would anyone do something as foolish as that?" "Because I saved his life, ten times before you came along." Said Luke. "What?" said Theresa, "from who?" "Satan." Said Luke, "and now, he owes me more than his life, he owes me himself." Luke smiled evilly, "I will allow you to continue looking after Mogi, but just remember, if at night he sees the moon, I will come, and take control." Then he collapsed and changed back to Mogi. Who was just lying there unconscious. Theresa started to walk towards him, when Taka stopped her. "What now?" asked Theresa who was very annoyed that she kept getting stopped. "I have to ensure that Móguǐ zhīzǐ, is no longer a threat." "Are you kidding?" asked Theresa, "of course he isn't!" "I have to verify that," said Taka, "if he transforms into both Lucifer and Satan, he will be apprehended and taken to the masked order's headquarters." "he's just a kid!" said Theresa, "and he isn't dangerous, as long as he isn't possessed!" "He isn't just an average child!" said Taka, "he is the devil's heir!" as soon as she said that, the ground burst with flames. Demons clawed their way out of the cracks in the ground. At that moment, Mogi woke up. "Mogi!" said Theresa, "help!" Mogi didn't know what to do, he couldn't do anything, except, the one thing he knew, the one thing that Luke had taught him, the one thing he knew could help his friend. "don't freak out!" he shouted to Theresa "what are you going to do?!" asked Theresa "something Luke taught me when I was young!" replied Mogi, "it takes a minute so just be calm!" "Are you insane?!" asked Theresa, "don't do anything that demon taught you!" "Just trust me!" said Mogi, "It'll be fine!" he clapped his hands together, and then folded it into a sign of the cross, and instantly, the Demons stopped coming out of the ground, the cracks disappeared, and the ground looked normal again. "Mogi!" shouted Theresa, she ran over to him, "are you Ok?" "I'm fine." Said Mogi, "just doing that drains my energy..." he passed out in Theresa's arms. "I suppose I was wrong about this young boy." Said Taka, "if he can earn non demonic powers, then maybe he will be more than just Satan's heir. But beware, with more power, the masked order will use him more and more." Then Taka Disappeared in a cloud of smoke. After a couple hours, Theresa heard Mogi mumbling something in his sleep, a couple names. "Luke, Xavier, Aamon, Corbon, Dolion, I owe you all." Said Mogi in his sleep. "I know those demons," said Theresa, "and none of them are good role models." She continued driving the wagon, and listening to Mogi talking in his sleep, he named ninety-five more demons. "How on earth did you come into debt with so many Demons Mogi?" asked Theresa. Meanwhile, Mogi had a nightmare, the worst one. It was the day he came into debt with one hundred demons six years ago. "Be careful Mogi!" said his mom, "I know it's the day you see your friend, but go slowly." "Ok mom!" said Mogi. He ran to the park to meet Luke. "Luke! "Luke!" said Mogi "hi Mogi!" said Luke excitedly, "I'm so excited to play with you!" "Me too!" said Mogi, "especially since I found out from my mom that there's a cave on the outskirts of town, and it's unexplored!" "isn't that dangerous?" asked Luke, "if it's unexplored there could be some dangerous things there." "Oh, come on Luke," said Mogi, "I'm sure it's fine." "Ok," said Luke, "as long as it isn't dangerous." They both walked to the cave, eager to find something interesting. They did, but not like they expected. "Cool!" said Mogi, "it's dark, and spooky, and there are spiders! I love spiders!" "Me too," said Luke, "but this place seems so creepy." "I know right?" said Mogi, "it's so awesome!" Luke looked around, he was terrified. "This place reminds me of my family, cold and dark." Said Luke. He looked farther into the cave, and saw a bright light. "Oh no," he said, "Mogi we should go now. Mogi?" Mogi had already seen the light and was walking toward it. "I wonder what it is," said Mogi, "it looks so pretty," "Mogi don't!" said Luke, "stop!" Luke tried to pull Mogi back, but he failed. He had to try the last resort. "I the demon prince summon a legion of demons," said Luke, "to aid me in my task, in return, I shall be indebted to them." He made a hand sign, and ninety-nine demons appeared. "Young prince," said one of them, "why should we stop the release of our master? What favor could you possibly grant us that shall be better than the release and domination of our lord?" Luke glared at the Demon, his red eyes glowing brighter than ever, "just do as I say!" he shouted, "or I'll release my domain upon you!" the demons scuttled back in fear, then helped Luke stop Mogi before he could touch the flame at the end of the cave. "Mogi are you ok?" asked Luke "yeah," said Mogi, "weird, I feel like I was just asleep." Luke hugged Mogi, then smacked him in the face. "What was that for?" asked Mogi "you have no idea what you just cost me!" said Luke, "now, I owe ninety-nine demons!" Mogi looked around, the ninety-nine demons looked at him in anticipation of what he might do next. "What if," said Mogi, "I owe them instead?" "What do you mean?" asked Luke "since technically they were helping me," said Mogi, "wouldn't I owe them?" "I guess," said Luke, "but I was the one who summoned them, and you are the one who if they hadn't stopped would've turned into their master." "Exactly!" said Mogi, "then, you wouldn't have to owe all these demons." "I guess," said Luke, "but do you know what these demons will do to you?" "Yes," said Mogi, "but it'll be fine, I just have to avoid any flames in the future, and then they won't be able to possess me." "Ok," said Luke, "if this is what you really want." "It is," said Mogi, "these Demons could ask insane things of you, but for me, it's avoidable." Luke hesitated, then he used a spell. "The debt of the demon prince," he started, "to the demons who are present, shall be lifted and transferred, to the one for whom this debt occurred." A black glow enveloped the room, and ended with the glow on top of Mogi. "There." Said Luke, "now I don't owe these demons anything. but you do." "I know." Said Mogi, "but I owe you even more." As the two walked out of the cave, Luke told Mogi the names of every last of the ninety-nine demons. Then Mogi woke up. "Wǒ qiàn tāmen suǒyǒu rén!" he shouted as he woke up, "wait, it was just a dream." He crawled to the front of the wagon where Theresa was driving. "you're awake?" said Theresa "yup." Said Mogi, "not sure I can say the same for you." He chuckled, but Theresa looked exhausted, "between helping me, and driving the wagon, I'd say you need sleep." Theresa ignored him. "So," she said, "did you remember how you became indebted to a hundred Demons?" "Yeah," said Mogi, "it was back when me and Luke-" "it was Luke's fault?" said Theresa, "I knew he couldn't be trusted!" "You got it all wrong." Said Mogi, "it was my fault, Luke was the one who helped me." "I don't believe it." Said Theresa, "Luke isn't trustworthy." "If only you'd seen the things I have," said Mogi, "Luke saved my life repeatedly. Ever since we first met when I was five-years-old." Theresa looked like she was trying to be mad, but she was too tired. "Look," said Mogi, "I won't try to convince you if you're that tired, I can drive, just go to sleep." Theresa tried to protest, but she was incredibly tired and passed out in the back. "Good night, Theresa." Said Mogi. In Theresa's dream, she was in Luke's house. "Hello Theresa," said Luke, "how wonderful to see you here." "Luke." Said Theresa, glaring at him, "why am I here?" "So, I can show you the truth of course." Said Luke, "I can't let Mogi keep trying to explain to you that I am not a villain. So, I'll show you all the times I helped Mogi, the masked order, and even you." "Liar!" said Theresa, "you'll just lie and try to trick me!" Luke looked confused, "do you have some sort of issue with my namesake?" "What do you mean, namesake?" asked Theresa. "didn't Mogi tell you?" asked Luke, "I am not the real Lucifer, I am just named for him." Theresa looked Shocked, then told herself that Luke was lying again. "Oh dear," said Luke, "it seems that when Mogi tried to tell you, he was interrupted. "What?" asked Theresa, then she suddenly remembered, right after Luke had possessed Mogi, Mogi had been about to say something, after he said, "he told me," What he was about to say was, "of course though, he isn't the real Lucifer, just named after him, because he's Satan's real son, that's why we got along so well." "Now do you believe me?" asked Luke. "No!" said Theresa, "you're still Satan's son, you're a liar!" "Fine," said Luke, "say what you believe, but know this, I will still show you how and when I saved Mogi, the masked order, and you." Theresa backed away. "How?" she asked "magic of course." Said Luke, he touched Theresa's forehead, and immediately, images flashed through her eyes. The first one, Mogi and Luke in the cave when Luke summoned the demons to protect Mogi. Second, when Mogi had first Transformed to Satan at the play, Luke had been the force puling Mogi back. Third, when the order of the mask had been just getting started, and had been attacked by more demons than they could handle, Luke had helped them defeat the demons, and save the princesses, Palo and Rona. When they had first heard the news of the Sādàn zhīzǐ being born, the masked order had sent Luke to ensure that this boy would not transform before the masked order was ready to face him. despite Luke's (and Dragona's) objections, Luke was deployed to protect Mogi, but ended up becoming his friend. Fifth, when Theresa was a little baby, she was incredibly sick, if it weren't for Luke, she would've died a cold death. Sixth, when Theresa was just deployed as Mogi's Guardian angel, Luke discreetly gave her tips about Mogi. After seeing all these images, Theresa was surprised. "Now do you believe me?" asked Luke. "No!" said Theresa, "it has to be some kind of trick!" Luke sighed. "If you don't believe me," he said, "then ask Mogi, the masked order, or your parents." Theresa tried to convince herself that Luke was lying but it was just too hard. "If you don't want to believe me then just don't." said Luke, "but if the matter concerns Mogi, know that I will be there. Now I believe you should wake up, or Mogi will get himself into some trouble." He waved his hand, and Theresa woke up. She helped Mogi steer the wagon away from the giant centipede demon. "don't you remember Luke?" asked a voice when Luke was in his house, "don't you remember, when you first were shunned?" that dove Luke into an accidental flashback. |
