Hell hath no fury...

Belinda glared at her husband so ferociously he recoiled. She held up the rose he had given her, tore the bloom off it, and threw the thorny stem at him. "You son of a bitch!" she hissed.

Elliott looked at her with bewilderment bordering on fear. "Bel, what in the—"

"Don't you DARE call me that, you bastard! Don't you dare call me by your little pet names after what you've done!"

Elliott gaped at her, completely at a loss. This angry, vicious woman bore no resemblance to the sweet and playful wife he kissed goodbye this morning. "Belinda, stop." He meant to sound stern, but the words came out in an uncertain plea.

She reached behind her and grabbed a sheaf of paper from the counter, waving it angrily. "I figured it out, you ass! Did you think I was an idiot? That I couldn't read our phone bill? 'Romance for Two?!'" She threw the papers at him.

Elliott felt something give in his stomach. "Belinda, that's Rhonda Mar—"

"DONT YOU SAY HER NAME IN FRONT OF ME! DON'T YOU DARE"

Elliott looked around as if he were trying to get his bearings in an unfamiliar jungle full of dangerous animals...well, one, at least. That was when he noticed the suitcase.

"Belinda, it's not...listen—" But she was beyond listening. She stepped forward and slapped his face hard enough to make him see stars. Then she grabbed her suitcase and stormed out the door like a freight train.

Elliott sat down on the couch, numb from the emotional barrage, his face stinging from the physical attack. He picked up the phone and dialed an all-too-familiar number.

"Hi, Rhonda? Yeah, it's Elliott. Listen, I'm going to have to cancel that anniversary cruise you were setting up for me and Bel. See..."
