Summer Storm

A Sparrowlet Poem

lightning flashes, stern thunder slaps hard
wind screams, rain pours, trees drenched, marred
distant sounds of active car horns
sky is dark, birds gone, dog on guard
kitchen lights flicker, my pup mourns
stern thunder slaps hard, lightning flashes

excitement flares, hearts are weary
sounds change, loud then silence; eerie
nothing new for such active storm
children tense which sets a query
soon to end show, nature's freeform
hearts are weary, excitement flares
