What is humanity?

This is sort of a poem; it is not finished but your welcome to enjoy what is there :)

Humanity...
humanity is a funny thing...fickle.
They bring you roses when you die, but while you're alive they will never give you a petal
If your dog is behaving well at the park nobody will bat an eye or compliment you but the moment your dog does something wrong they will tell you that you're a terrible pet owner.
You ask what humanity is, but I don't know the answer
Is it to act human?
Perhaps it is simply to feel?
I'm not sure what typical humanity is, I couldn't define it.
But my definition, to be human...
To be human is to have good days
It is to be lost in a crowed of dancers, lost in music blaring from speakers
It is to have days where you cannot stop the tears that brim in your eyes from falling when the person you trust holds you.
Its to take a leap, maybe you'll land but if you fall it is to be injured, and then it is to watch the blood clot, the wounds scab, and leave you the scars to remember it by.
You want to know what humanity is? It is to exist; it is to live every day.
But it is also the tendency to fall into hatred, it is the inclination to assume the worst.
It is to be consumed by our own mind tricks.
It is to be overwhelmed with anxiety; it is panic attacks on the floor at midnight and getting up the next day like nothing happened
It is falling into depression so deep you feel swallowed whole by your bed
Humanity is beautiful and antagonizing, it is intense and painful, it is wishing on a shooting star with distant hope.
It is feeling small in such a big world let alone the whole of all that space is.
