My Darling

I wrote this poem to show my girlfriend just how deeply I love her.

There is nothing in this world I desire more than you.
You are the sun that brightens even my darkest night,
the moon that guides me safely through shadow,
the clouds that carry my daydreams,
the rain that soothes my restless heart,
and the rainbow that paints my soul with joy.

My love, you are all that I yearn for.
You are where I place my heart, my soul, my truest self.
I never wish to see a day where you feel unhappy, weary, or burdened.
As long as I breathe, I will be here—
to ease your load, to hold the bridges too heavy for you alone,
to be the song that lingers sweetly in your mind.

For I love you—
all of you, in every season, through every high and low,
in sickness and in health, in light and in shadow.
Always and forever, I am yours.
