The Gift

a man sets up the right priorities in his life

I waited behind the curtain with a big red ribbon tied around me. When she entered, I stepped into her line of sight.

“Oh my god! You’re here!” She squealed.

“Yep.”

“You were going to be at that conference!”

“I knew how important it was to you for me to be here.”

Tears were streaking down her face, “But your career?”

“Careers last for what, 20 years. This baby will be here for our lifetimes.”

“Oh, honey,” She rested her hands on her too-pregnant stomach, “This is the best gift you could give us.”

The obstetrician entered, “Let’s get started.”
