Everyone knew Shirley, trudging the streets, pushing all her worldly possessions in a shopping trolley. Referred to as, “Old Shirley,” or “Homeless Shirley,” or even “Dirty Shirley,” no one knew her story and she didn’t choose to share it. How could they guess?

As she wandered the Supermarket cosmetic aisle she caught her reflection in a make-up mirror but looked past the matted hair and lined face. She saw: Young Shirl, Glamorous Shirl, Beautiful Shirl.

As she walked up the High Street, she fingered the bright red lipstick in her coat pocket and smiled. She never could resist Scarlet Siren
