A haunting, poem of love, loss, and the ruin left by rejection. |
I begged the stars for mercy’s glow, I chased the dawn, but it ran too slow. Every heartbeat echoed, hollow, loud, a promise lost beneath the crowd. Your silence weighed like chains of stone, each glance a wound, each word unknown. I reached for you, but you pulled away, and left my soul in night, not day. I swore the fates would not divide, that love, though fragile, could still abide. But dreams can break like brittle glass, and hope can fade much too fast. I prayed for yes, a gentle hand, a vow to stay, to understand. But truth struck deep, a cruel imposter, No, is also an answer. I didn't know that the result, would be such a disaster. Line Count: 18 Prompt: End your story or poem with the following: No is also an answer. I didn't know that the result would be such a disaster.
