Muses about looking at her love across a crowded room

I knew you'd entered the building — the energy changed in the room.
You stood beside me, grazing my elbow with your arm.
The chemistry between us palpable and magnetic,
I saw the fire in the depth of your blue eyes.

You walked across the room to talk with someone else.
I admired your gait, slow and confident — and so attractive.
Your salt and pepper shimmering in the filtered stained-glass light,
I saw the most handsome man in the room.

A smile settled in on my face — a joyful warmth in my body.
Thoughts of how proud I would be to call you mine flooded my mind.
Standing there in the warm glow of evening sun,
I saw the answer to every prayer in a blue polo shirt.

My body ran hot from the fire our sparks ignited.
I looked back your way and our eyes met and locked.
You looked so happy and alive, a broad grin lighting your face,
I saw a tender spirit, a beautiful man — the love of my life.

I wondered at how we always seem to be on the same page.
Without words and over miles apart, our spirits are connected.
The one flame our souls share kindling an eternal union,
I saw the man I love beyond words and longed for the day he is mine.
