A setting description. |
| The trees lining the road almost block out the gray sky overhead. In this dimly lit world, the melody of summer bird songs twitter and float through the air. The chirps and croaks of frogs and toads add harmony and bass to bring a fuller song together. Meanwhile the whirr of cicadas and buzz of bees add rhythm to the song of the forest. The song of a forest brings joy and calm to those who hear it. This forest song seemed typical at first, but was not average after all. The longer you stayed the more it seemed to change. What had seemed like a typical tall tree, leaf covered place transformed if you would sit in one place long enough. The tall, long-branched trees changed to be fingers reaching out to touch you. Like they needed to know more about this creature that had joined them and the only way they could do that was by reaching out their fingers and touching it. While this was happening, the song sounded like it had words. The lyrics seemed to be asking questions. Asking why you were there and what you wanted with this place. Now you had to make a decision whether you should answer. If you decided to answer, would your answer be out loud or just in your head? Did you really know why you were there yourself? You take a deep breath to gather yourself to join the song and answer, but you are stopped by the sound of another creature giving an answer to the questions. In the dimness it is difficult to see exactly what is making this answer. The answer is a verse to the song singing with confidence and delight. As you hear the answer, you realize that it is coming from close by. You had not detected any others like you nearby, but they are just like you. A weary traveler finding solace in a beautiful wood with an inviting song of friendship. |
