Following your dreams or giving up due to insurmountable odds.

There once was a bulldog, so wrinkly and grand,
The sweetest old pup in the whole of the land.
Her name was Miss Havisham, gentle and slow,
But deep in her heart, a wild dream started to grow.

She didn't want to walk or nap in the sun,
She yearned for adventure, excitement, and fun!
She wanted to sail, to plunder, to holler "Ahoy!"
Miss Havisham wished she were a pirate; what joy!

First came her costume, a remarkable sight,
A tale of brave pirates, quite daring and bold.
A red plastic hook, on her wrinkly right paw,
Instead of a painted nail or a regular claw.

An eye patch of black, with a skull and crossbones,
Though both of her eyes saw the world, it was shown.
It covered her left eye, with such pirate flair,
As if she'd seen battles beyond all compare!

A hat, truly authentic, with feathers so grand,
It perched on her head, like a ship on the sand.
And what is a pirate without a bird so bright?
A tiny green parrotlet, an incredible sight!

It chirped on her shoulder, "Squawk! Pieces of eight!"
Making her feel like a real-life pirate, so great!
The parrotlet's name was "Captain Chirpy," brave and bold,
Ready for stories, both fantastic and quite old.

No longer Miss Havisham, that name was too tame,
She needed a pirate's, a gruff, swashbuckling name!
She thought and she pondered, she barked with glee,
"Mozelle 'Two-Teeth' Barksey, that's what I shall be!"

It rolled off her tongue like a wave from the ocean,
Filled her with brave, pirate-y, joyful emotion.
"Mozelle 'Two-Teeth'!" she'd bark, with a satisfied wag,
Her new name was a banner, unfurled like a flag.

Mozelle 'Two-Teeth' dreamed of a ship on the blue,
With sails full of wind, and a loyal pirate crew.
She pictured the waves and the salty sea spray,
Discovering islands, unexplored, far away!

She'd sail past the icebergs and tropical bays,
Exploring new wonders through sun-drenched days.
She'd bury her treasures in sand soft and deep,
Then dig them up later, from secrets to keep.

Not silver, not gold, nor bright jewels did she crave,
But chests full of bones, that a good pirate saves!
Big bones, little bones, all are chewy and clean,
The finest bone bounty a dog pirate had ever seen!

But oh dear, a problem, a wobbling, quite grim,
She got very seasick, right up to the brim!
A splash and a bobble, a bubble down she'd go,
And Mozelle 'Two-Teeth' would sink, to her woe.

No vast, rolling waves, no far-off seashores,
No brave pirate journeys through far distant doors.
Her beautiful ship would stay in her head,
Along with her crew, and her bone treasure spread.

Did this make her sad? Did she give up her quest?
Not Mozelle 'Two-Teeth'! She'd still be the best!
A land-loving pirate, quite clever and sly,
With a twinkle of fun in her one covered eye!

Her living room carpet became the vast sea,
Her sofa, a fort, for brave pirates to be.
The kitchen, an island, with treasures untold,
A land full of secrets, both new and quite old.

She'd dig in the flower beds, with dirt on her snout,
For treasures of earth, she would sniff them right out!
She'd spot a small beetle, "Beware, monster new!"
And chase a bright leaf, as all good pirates do.

So, if you see bulldogs with soft, wrinkly faces,
Remember Mozelle and her pirate-y graces.
With her hook and her patch, and her parrot so bright,
Mozelle 'Two-Teeth' Barksey, a true pirate's delight!
