Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown
Has found himself at quite a loss
Halloween has ended once again
And though everyone is in a happy state
Jack does not feel so very pleased
Something is missing,
Though he knows not what
He wanders the night and comes upon
A circle of trees with holiday secrets
He finds himself drawn to Christmastown
And when he tries to determine the secret
He decides he can do his own version
Copying the holiday with his own special flare
Instead of spreading joy,
He spreads more scares
And the world shoots him down from the sky
It is then that he realizes
He cannot change
He is who he is
And in doing some thinking
He realizes he is best that way
He returns home to fix his mistake
Sending Santa Claus on his way
And finding his true love
Who tried to warn him
He learns what was missing.

Topic--A Halloween movie? A Christmas movie? Regardless, the stop-motion animated musical is a visual delight that seamlessly combines the two holidays into one film. Directed by Henry Selick, the story follows Jack Skellington (voiced by Chris Sarandon), the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, who has grown tired of the same routine of frightening people. After stumbling upon Christmastown, Jack devises a plan to take over the joyous holiday. A testament to producer Tim Burton’s whimsical yet sinister imagination, the film features memorable songs like “This Is Halloween” and “What’s This?” from composer Danny Elfman. — M.Z. movie- The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
