As she stopped to catch her breath, she looked back. She had only covered half the distance, but her body was giving out. Her heartbeat was tormenting her ears. Her leg muscles were burning and her knees shaking. The acute pain in her abdomen was telling her that she could not go on much longer.
She gasped for air, cold air that burned her throat, making her ears ring. Her vision was getting blurry, and the metallic taste in her mouth was getting on her nerves.
She heard the dreadful whistle again, and a bunch of people outran her as she tried not to fall too far behind. She could only take two of three strides before her legs melted away.
As she fell to the ground only one thought filled her mind,
"I really hate PE".
