| At The Park Gina sat on the bench in the park waiting for Ted. Ted lived next door, but this conversation seemed better in the park. Gina didn’t want her family to hear about it until she knew what she was doing. Andy had asked her to be his steady. He gave her a ring! As she twisted the ring around, she walked it through her mind. They were seniors now. Not odd to be with a steady, she and Andy had been dating for months now. She really did like him. But something was off. Right there and then she wanted to call Ted. Ted knew her so well, he would tell her what was bothering her in seconds and help her make her decision. They’d grown up next door from one another; they were practically brother and sister. “Hey!” came his voice “Why did you call me here?” Ted sat down beside her. She immediately felt better, Ted was like a big brother, always there watching out for her. She told him about Andy’s plan, showing him the ring. “I don’t know what to do,” she said. “Well,” Ted said, in his most sincere voice, “if you don’t know what to say to him, you probably shouldn’t accept his ring. You’re still too young to tie yourself down. My opinion... anyway” Gina sighed, “I knew you’d tell me the truth. I’m not ready to be tied down to one person. Maybe Andy will understand. She touched his face, smiling “Thank you! I’m going to go fix this.” off she ran in the blink of an eye. Ted smiled. He was not ready either, but he definitely knew that when he was ready, Gina was the person he wanted to be with. He just had to wait until Gina knew that too. |
