Poem for my daughter

I

f it's that time, to part ways...
Who am I to deny your case?
I barely dared to be present in your childhood days.
Making it harder to picture your face,
Through indiscernible, drab months in a haze.
Despite the stake of a parent's hope,
I knew things had to end this way.
A father without his little girl is such a disgrace.
